Bridal Shower Numero Uno

I'm going to start by saying that I am extremely blessed. I have great women in my life. Two of my sisters and mother threw me a bridal shower last week and boy did I feel overwhelmed by the people who came and by the gifts that were given. Everyone went above and beyond.

And I was even more blessed that the bridal shower happened to fall on the week Blake's mom and sister were in town visiting!

I will admit Blake and I felt extremely awkward opening up all the gifts while everyone was watching. I'm that girl at Christmas who slowly lets my pile of presents stack up hoping no one will notice so I don't have to open them while people are watching. I fail at it each year. But again, we received some amazing gifts and felt so loved by everyone who came!

If you know me, you know I love all things pineapple. So my sisters made it a pineapple theme and boy was awesome! All the food was delicious and the decorations so cute. Hopefully, recipes will be coming soon. If I don't post them here on my blog they will be over on Sisters, What!

Let me just say I don't like cake. But this cake......YUM!

Pina Colada Popcorn. Guys this was DELICIOUS. Everyone needs to hurry and make it.

Pineapple and strawberry water. It was so good that it will be making a reappearance at our reception.

Someday soon I'll post the recipe to this delicious salad featuring pineapple and pineapple dressing. Super healthy, super yummy!

My soon to be nephew!

My sister, Havalah, got to bring her boys. Luke, the older one, helped us by bringing us all the presents. Frost, the younger one, helped us by eating all the Pina Colada Popcorn.

My wonderful mom who I'll be eternally grateful for. She has been there for every one of my meltdowns and still loved me after them.

We all look related! The wonderful woman on the right is Blake's mom.

My awesome sisters who put so much work into the party.

And my soon to be sister-in-law.

It was a great night and not as awkward and uncomfortable as I thought it would be. So grateful to everyone who came and helped us feel so much love!

23 days guys, I repeat 23 days!!!

Stay awesome.

#thankfultuesday - Attitude of Gratitude

It has been a while since I've done a #thankfultuesday post. I probably won't start doing them regularly again but I'll start doing them more often than not because I sure do need to be more grateful in my life.

Being grateful is a small thing, but it really enhances your life in a way that nothing else can. It doesn't cost money, it doesn't require a certain station in life, in fact it doesn't require anything. And in the negative and unhappy world we live in we really do need more gratitude.

We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues.
-Thomas S. Monson (An Attitude of Gratitude)

I'm grateful....

1. For all the rain that is making my parents yard lush and green for my wedding reception in July.
2. For the delicious, yet semi-healthy, Whole Wheat Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe Kelsey gave me on Sunday. So easy, so delicious. Found here.
3. For the yummy cherries that are growing on our cherry tree.
4. For the fact that I've actually been to the gym more then once in the last week. MIRACLE!
5. For my wonderful fiancee who loves me even when I'm being a jerk.

What are you grateful for this week?!

Stay awesome.

Big Ships, Mariners Games and More!

Yes, we are still alive and despite all the curve balls we've been thrown in the past few weeks, we are thriving. Here is just a short, but sweet update on our life the past month or so.

We went to Art Walk in downtown Olympia. Weird people, weird art, great people watching and good times!

I was invited by one of the Port Commissioners of the Port of Olympia to get a tour of one of their ships while it was being loaded with logs. What a cool experience! Of course Blake was in heaven. They gave us a tour of the engine room and it was like watching a kid in a candy store. This ship was headed off to Korea!

My nephew Colby is on a baseball team so my parents and I went to Portland for a weekend to watch him play. It was perfect weather and I can say I sure hope at least one of my kids plays baseball. Colby got on base twice!

I took a random day off a few weeks ago so that Blake and I could have a relaxing day together. But I forgot we were planning a wedding. So that relaxing day off turned into us building stuff for the reception. I think if I had more time I'd really start liking this whole DIY thing...just maybe.

Blake's best friend and wife were in town and sadly we didn't get a picture with them but we got to go with them to Spring Fun Fair and this is Blake inside of a helicopter right before he popped little Benson's balloon......

May 28th marked one year from when Blake texted me for the first time (someday I'll share the full story on here) so to celebrate I took him to his first Mariners game with fireworks! It was a little chilly but so much fun!

Sunday was my last class of mission prep. About a month ago I was called to serve in the Lacey Stake Young Women Presidency as the 2nd Counselor at my church. Which basically means in my church I get to work with all of the girls 12-18 in the Lacey area. I'm thrilled and humbled to be in this position, but it is a little bittersweet. I've been teaching this class for over three years, and I've taught so many kids who have served all over the world. But again, I'm excited for my new opportunity to serve.

And finally Memorial Day. We planned on doing yard work the whole day but my dad told us to go do something fun since we had been working so hard lately. We came back from canoeing and took a two hour nap. Needless to say we both were in serious need of some rest!

Someday soon I'll share all the curve balls that have hit us but for now enjoy the little adventures we've been having in between our crazy schedule of life, work, school and wedding planning!

Stay awesome.
