Here is what is currently on my nightstand, or in one of the many piles in my room:
Even though I've just barely started this book I've loved what I've read so far. It has so many great
ideas for bloggers, experienced and beginners! Here is a great review of the book by Haley at The Beautiful Exchange.
I'm a little over half way done with this book and I love it so far. The 'Heroes of Olympus' series is about a group of young demigods trying to save the world from being destroyed by a few different powerful ancient Gods. Rjordan mixes modern day with greek mythology in such a fun way. I've always been a big fan of Rick Rjordan's books because I love greek mythology. If you're looking for a fun easy read this series would be a choice.
I know I posted about this book here and since I'm writing about it in this post it clearly means I haven't finished it. But when I do get a chance to sit and read a few pages I love it. I like reading it at a slow pace because it gives me a chance to really think about what a great man Joseph Smith was. You know how people always ask the question, "if you could have lunch with any person who would it be?". I'd definitely pick Joseph Smith.
Remember when I said my world was rocked by some unfortunate news here? Well the day I got the news my dad handed me this book. Fun fact about Sierra N.C. Burton: She loves Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. I quote him regularly. My dad knew this and boy has this book been amazing. I've never really studied Psalms, read it yes, studied it no. But this is helping me see them in a whole new way and learn some new ideas and principles.
I picked up Persuasion because I realized I hadn't read all of Jane Austen's books yet and I was pretty disappointed in myself for that. So first stop, Persuasion. At first I really had a hard time getting into the book but I didn't give up and so far I'm enjoying it. It is your typical Victorian Era book, full of love, drama and etiquette.
I think the title says it all. I'm excited to see how this book will help me living a more full life!
What books are on your "nightstand" right now?
I usually play games on my iPad before bed! Lol
ReplyDeleteI should really bring more Jane Austin into my life. I haven't read any of her novels nice university :)
ReplyDeleteI love book posts! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I used to read a ton of books at once but now I'm reading Game of Thrones which takes all of my focus ☺ I'd love to hear your thoughts on the last one! I have bad anxiety and love hearing different ways to combat it
ReplyDeleteCaitlin, as soon as I read it you'll get my thoughts :) Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteI have the most eclectic reading taste--right now, I have the travel guide "Weird Carolinas" right next to Peter Ackroyd's "Shakespeare: The Biography." I blame it on the massive amounts of stuff that I had to read in my English grad program. If you like Georgian/ Victorian literature like Jane Austen, I'd highly recommend Wilkie Collins (especially "The Moonstone" and "The Woman in White"). There's more suspense in Collins than there is in Austen, which is partially why I prefer his works to Austen!
ReplyDeleteOh Natalie thank you for the suggestions! I'm always looking for more Victorian authors!
DeleteRight now all my books are on my iPad!
ReplyDeleteI'm also reading Blog Inc.! :) I have a Pretty Little Liars book, Wild, and Killing Keiko on my nightstand right now mixed in with a couple of pregnancy books! :)
ReplyDeleteI read Blog Inc, it's great. On my night stand is a whole pile of unread magazines - food and travel that need to get read!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I love my Kindle paper white. It gives me a huge library at my fingertips for whatever mood I am in. :)
ReplyDeleteI can only read one book at a time! I could never keep up with this many! haha I just finished a book called "Take Me With You" and it was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteThe only book on my nightstand is The Lovely Bones. I have issues even just reading one book at a time! But I really want to read that one by Holland, you will have to tell me how it is!
ReplyDeleteOh I've only read parts of it but everything I've read I've loved. I mean after all, its Holland :)
DeleteGreat books! I love reading Dale Carnegie's books.
ReplyDeleteI am liking your selections! I have a TON of books on my nightstand and I speed read some and dwell on others. I vary in genre just like you. But right now I am into cook books and interior design books.
ReplyDeleteI love Blog Inc. So informative!
ReplyDeleteDale Carnegie's books are all amazing! I'm definitely going to pick up Blog Inc. and love Jane Austen!!

ReplyDeleteThese seem like such awesome books! I just found your blog and I love it! Right now I have just been reading my Book of Mormon and The Bible with my hubby. I have a little 9 month old, so I feel like I have no time to read. You have encouraged me to read more though just by looking at your book selection :)

ReplyDeleteMy recent reading includes The Confidence Code - I actually haven't started reading it yet, but I heard Claire Shipman talk at a conference, and I loved it.
